HARVARD SEISMOGRAPH IS SHOCKED BY DISTANT QUAKE

A distant earthquake of moderate intensity was registered yesterday morning at the Harvard Seismographic Station, according to Professor K. F. Mather of the Geology Department. It began at 9.15 o'clock and reached its maximum intensity between 9.43 and 9.47 o'clock.

The direction of the quake, which was recorded at a distance of 5,300 miles from Cambridge, has not, as yet, been ascertained.
