A course in physical education for teachers, supervisors, and directors in this field, will be given by Professor Charles H. Keene, of the University of Buffalo, who will be Visiting Lecturer in the Graduate School of Education during the second half year, it was announced yesterday by the University office. Dr. Keene was formerly Director of the Bureau of Health Education for Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The new course will deal with the history and administration of physical education and will begin with a study of the writings and methods of its leading exponents to show the relation of its growth to the development of the general educational theory. Special attention will be given to the contributions of such organizations as the American Physical Education Assocoation, the National Collegiate Athletic Association the Society of Directors of Physical Education in Colleges, the Amateur Athletic Union, the Playground and Recreation Association of America and the National Amateur Athletic Federation.

The study of the organization, management and the supervision of physical education in schools and colleges, and of the comprehensive programs designed to meet the needs of students in these institutions will be taken up by Professor Keene. Problems that arise in the relations of the physical education specialist to other members of the teaching staff will also be touched on, and an opportunity will be given for the discussion of modern gymnasiums, field houses, and athletic fields and their equipment. Students in the course will visit schools in the vicinity of Boston in order to acquaint themselves with the management of physical education programs in actual operation.
