Tomorrow evening at 7.30 o'clock the Debating Union will debate the subject, "Resolved: That this house believes that democratic form of government has failed", in the Living Room of the Harvard Union.
The meeting will be conducted according to the English system, an innovation in the history of the Debating Union. The seats will be divided into two sections, one for the adherents of the affirmative, and one for the supporters of the negative. During the course of the debate, members of the audience will be encouraged to cross from one side of the room to the other as the debaters influence their sympathies.
Questioning the debaters by the audience will be permitted during the speeches; afterwards speaking only will be allowed.
A motion to close the debate will be presented promptly at 9.30 o'clock, when the audience will vote on the question. Those who leave early may register their votes with the tellers at the door.
The speakers will be B. F. Wright, a tutor in the division of History, Government, and Economics, and C. P. Wright 1G., a graduate of Oxford University, for the affirmative; D. R. Barnes '27 and Dr. John Dickinson, lecturer in the department of History, Government, and Economics, for the negative.
D. W. Chapman '27, president, and L. H. Duggan '27, secretary of the Debating Union, will have charge of the meeting. The tellers for the voting will be C. E. Wyzanski '27 and R. K. Straus '27.
