Owing to the tremendous burden which will be placed on the traffic fore in the vicinity of Soldiers Field today, Boston and Cambridge police officials have combined with the Harvard authorities in issuing special regulations to take care of the situation.
After 12.30 o'clock, Harvard Square from Quincy to Brattle Streets, Boylston Street, Cambridge, the Anderson Bridge and North Harvard Street, Brighton, as far as Western Avenue, will be closed to automobile traffic. The only automobile gates admitting to Soldiers Field will be Gates 12 and 13 on the Metropolitan Parkway at the southwest corner of the field. These may be reached from Boston by Commonwealth Avenue to Brighton Avenue to Union Square, Allston, to North Beacon Street and down Market Street to the Speedway.
Before the game, from 1 until 2 o'clock and at the end of the game from 4.15 to 5.15 o'clock, the Cottage Farm Bridge wil be open only one way, going towards Boston, and the Temporary bridge.
Automobiles coming from Waltham and Watertown should come via North Beacon Street to Market Street to the Speedway.
Taxis and other automobiles which do not park, if coming from Brighton may unload their passengers at the corner of North Harvard Street on Western Avenue about two hundred yards from Gate No. 8. If coming via Cambridge by the Parkway from Boston they will be required to unload and turn at DeWolfe Square on the Parkway about 300 yards below the Anderson Bridge on the Cambridge side.
After the game all cars parked in the field and on the Boston Parkway west of North Harvard Street must leave by the Parkway westward.
The police have requested the Harvard management to announce that all cars must be removed from the parking space before it is time to have the lights turned on as the law regarding the lighting of automobiles will be strictly enforced. They further wish automobilists to be warned against leaving their cars in charge of the numerous boys who want to "mind your car," as many thefts have occurred in this way.
The Athletic Association has announced that no person, whether in an automobile or on foot, will be admitted with in the enclosure without a ticket. No tickets, of course, will be on sale at the gates.
The opening whistle is schedule to thrown open to he public at 12.30 o'clock. There are eight entrances to the enclosure along North Harvard Street, and they are numbered from one to eight beginning at Anderson Bridge.
Ticket holders should enter the gates as follows: Sections 23 to 27 by Gate 1; sections 38 to 51 by Gate 3; sections 1 to 13 by Gate 4; sections 14 to 22, by Gate 6.
Holders of tickets for standing room space at the top of the Stadium should enter by Gate 4, and proceed from there by way of the East Tower.
Spectators attending the game in cars and who park their cars either in the private parking field on the Brighton playground off Western Avenue may on playground off Western Avenue may enter through Gate 4, at the southern corner of the field. Ticket holders leaving their automobiles on the Metropolitan Parkway in Brighton should enter the enclosure either, through Gate 14, at the southwest corner of the field, or through Gate 19, opposits the Newell Boathouse on the north side of Soldiers Field.
The Athletic Association is emphatic in its announcement that spectators must keep their seats until the game is over. Users and police have been instructed to allow no standing in the aisles or entrances while the game is in progress. That persons, who leave their seats must leave the field, is the order of the day.
