The Debating Union will hold its second meeting of the year in the Faculty Room of the Union tomorrow night at 7.30 o'clock, instead of in the Living Room as originally announced.
The evening will be devoted to a debate of the proposition, "Resolved, That this house approves of President Coolidge's proposal for a rebate on 1926 income taxes." The topic will be explained by Mr. G. W. Britt, Chief Special Deputy of the Department of Revenue, the introductory speaker for the meeting.
Four Members to Speak
Mr. Britt will be followed by four members of the Debating Union will prepared speeches on the tax rebate question. C. E. Wyzanski '27 and A. L. Barnhart 3L have been announced as two of these speakers.
Following the prepared speeches, members of the audience will be allowed to voice their views in an open discussion of the question. At 9 o'clock there will be a motion on a vote from the house giving a decision on the rebate proposal.
Speakers Dine at Union
The Debating Union will be open to all members of the University and the members of the Faculty.
The Debating Union Committee and the five scheduled speakers will be entertained at dinner at the Harvard Union before the meeting.
The subject of the debate is a political question of very recent development in Washington. President Coolidge, presumably because of the defeat of a number of Republican candidates in the recent senatorial elections, issued on November 6 a proposal for a tax rebate. The Democratic party, sensing that the proposition was a Republican attempt to regain popularity among the tax-payers, has assailed it vigorously.
