With his attention already focused on the Princeton game two week hence, the Crimson eleven was sent through one of its most severe scrimmage sessions of the season yesterday afternoon against a pick-up team employing Tiger plays. At the close of an hour of combat, the makeshift team emerged a close sivo'or over the University outfit 14 to 13.
Eight former "H" men were included in the line-up of the informal team, which supplied such stiff opposition that the close score was really a credit to the University team.
Shortly after the kickoff that opened the scrimmage, the scrub team got the ball on their own 30-yard line, and marched down the field using a Princeton offense to the University's 20-yard stripe. Here the regulars intercepted a pass, and with the ball finally in their possession tore 80 yards down the field for a touchdown, Miller taking the pigskin over from a trick formation. The entire 80 yards was gained by lineplunging.
J. P. Crosby '28, last season's star halfback who failed to top the scholastic hurdles this fall was responsible for the initial score of the scrubs. Intercepting a pass on his own 20-yard line, the fleet Junior back dashed 40 yards before he was downed.
Crosby again proved his worth when he ran 30 yards for a touchdown almost immediately after the ball was put in play again.
