In the second game of the inter-class series yesterday afternoon, the Sophomores ploughed their way through an improved Senior aggregation for a 6 to 0 victory. The Sophomore eleven showed considerable ground gaining ability on straight rushes, but its attack faltered several times within the shadow of the 1927 goal posts.
Morris Makes Touchdown
The lone touchdown came shortly after the opening of the second half. The Sophomores ran the kick off almost to midfield and then proceeded to drive 55 yards to a touchdown. The advance was made entirely on short line bucks, no gain being more than eight yards. Brine and Bell did most of the carrying, the former being particularly instrumental in pounding the 1927 defense. With the ball on the one yard line Morris pushed through center for the touchdown. Brine's try for point went wide of the up rights.
Senior Defense Improved
The Seniors showed an improved defense and a better organized attack than that which they displayed against the Juniors last week. The 22 to 0 score which 1928 piled up, however, combined with its decisive victory over the Teach sophomores in a practice game Monday make it a decided favorite in the coming Junior-Sophomore clash.
Brine and Bell led the 1929 attack, while Leven and Brookfield were big factors by their aggressive line play in holding down the Senior runner and in opening up holes for their own backs.
