Colonial--"Stella Dallas", a motion picture, at 8.15: Built with marvelous taste and refinement. An excellent argument for admitting the movies to serious dramatic consideration.
Majestic--"The Big Parade", a motion picture with John Gilbert and Renee Adoree, at 8.15: Less bitter than "What Price Glory" and every bit as real. It is a splendid thing that these two pictures can reach every small town in America.
Hollis--"The Poor Nut", with Elliot Nugent, at 8.20: Cracking wise on the college nut with no moments of incongruity.
Wilbur--"It Zat So?", at 8.00. Another good comedy. Reviewed in this issue.
Repertory--"Captain Brassbound's Conversion", by Bernard Shaw, at 8.10: Reviewed in this issue.
Copley--"The Sport of Kings", at 8.20: Lan Hay's excellent comedy of gambling, racing, and betting, caught in full flight from London to New York.
New Park "The Matince Girl", at 8.15: Musical comedy headed towards New York. We honestly hope it gets there.
Shubert Earl Carroll's Vanities," at 8.00 Chiefly notable for a number of clever skits and the fact that all the women in the show are awful.
Fremont--"No, No, Nanette", with Julia Sanderson and Donald Brian, at 8:00. "Ask Dad, he knows"?
Plymouth--"White Collars", at 8:15. Viewed with alarm last week by two members of this department.
Castle Square--"Abie's Irish Rose" at 8:15. Viewed with alarm every week by every member of this department.
Opera House--Chicago Opera Company. Today, matinee, "Carmen", evening, "La Traviata". Tomorrow, "Der Rosen-Kavalier".
