HARVARD DEFEATS PRINCETON SEXTET

His Goal in Overtime Period Decides Clash--Crimson Overcomes Two-Goal Lead to Win

Swept aside by a determined Tiger offense in the first period, the University hockey team fought an uphill battle during the remainder of the game and downed the Princeton skaters 4 to 3 on the Hobey Baker rink Saturday night by scoring goals in the second, third and overtime periods. Chase, speedy Crimson center sent the winning shot into the Orange and Black cage after one minute of the extra session. The University pivot with another tally in the second period was high scorer.

With the Tigers still leading by a 3 to 2 margin at the start of the last regular period, Gross, flashy wing, found the Nassau net with a hard angle shot that tied the score. In the remaining 19 minutes the Crimson offense, working in top from, bombarded Colebrook the Princeton goal guard, who gave a brilliant exhibition in defense of his net. The winning tally came in the opening minute of the extra period. After a fierce scrimmage in front of the Princetonian's goal a Crimson drive was stopped by Colebrook and on the rebound Chase drove the disk into the net before the Tiger guardian could recover.

Coach Bigelow rushed in his reserves at frequent intervals and usually alternated the first forward line, made up of Hamlen, Gross, and Chase, and the reserve forwards, Zarakov, Harding, and Scott, without breaking up the combination. The second lineup is slightly slower but dangerous and aggressive. Both veteran goal guards played the entire game.

Get Two Goal Lead

The Tigers started with a rush, when Harding, Princeton center, beat Cumbings with a hard angle shot. Davis, the veteran Tiger right wing gave the losers their second tally five minutes later with a short shot. The passing on both teams was ragged in the first period. The first Crimson goal was scored by Clark, who relieved Coady at right defense, about half way through the initial session. Just before the period closed, Hallock passed behind the Harvard goal to Pitman, Nassau left wing, who flipped a short drive into the net, giving the defenders a 3 to 1 lead.

Chase Scores First

In the second period the Crimson attack began to function more smoothly and the losers faltered. The Tigers threw away several opportunities to score with wild passes. Chase's first counter came after a heated scrimmage in the opening minutes of the period. The third session opened with the starting lineup intact, and the University skaters immediately carried the attack to the Princeconians who were fighting to hold their lead. After a minute of play Gross cleared the puck from a furious scrimmage in front of the Nassau goal and caught Cole-Brook urset for his sharp drive from the side.

Among the forwards, Chase, shifty pivot men, played the best game, and Pratt and Clark on the defense displayed some excellent checking.
