The thirty-fourth annual Harvard Interscholastic tennis tournament will start this morning at 9.30 o'clock on the Jarvis Field courts. Nine schools have signified their intention of entering six-men teams, while two others will be represented by individual competitors. The winning team will be awarded a shield, while the individual winner and runner-up will receive a gold and silver medal respectively.

Loomis School, captained by B. H. Whitbeck, won the team trophy last year, while Whitbeck was the individual winner of the tournament. This year Loomis will be represented by practically the identical combination. Whitbeck, however, has been severely handicapped this season by an injury to his shoulder, and as a result has ceded the No. 1 position on the Loomis team to Malcolm Hill, a former Newton High court star. Hill thus appears as one of the principal contenders for the championship, while his doubles partner of last summer, Henry B. Johnson of Newton High, who won the Yale Interscholastic tournament two weeks ago, is perhaps the other favorite.

Arthur Ingraham, who captains the Exeter tennis team this year and is also the brother of Captain Ingraham of the University team, is another very dangerous competitor. He is ranked at No. 11 in the annual ranking list of the Tennis Association, four places ahead of Hill in the Junior singles group. Ingraham is the Junior champion of Rhode Island, while his teammate, Richard B. Sewall, is Junior champion of Maine.

St. George's is entering a team for the first time in many years, and will be represented by a combination which has been undefeated so far this season. Other schools sending teams to Cambridge are Moses Brown of Providence. Andover, Malden High School. Worcester Academy, and New York Military Academy.
