RHODES APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN

Harvard Applicants Must Apply Before October 5

Applications from men who wish to be nominated from Harvard for Rhodes Scholarships will be received by President Lowell until Monday, October 5, 1925. The various American colleges must select their representatives by October 14, and applications to the Rhodes Trustees must be made by October 24. The election of the 1926-1927 Rhodes scholars will take place on December 12.

These scholarships, open to unmarried American citizens between 19 and 21 years of age who have completed at least two years of college, are tenable for three years and carry an annual stipend of 350 pounds sterling. Candidates may apply in the state where they reside or where they have received at least two years of their college education. The Rhodes scholars are appointed without examination on the basis of their record is school and college, and there is no restriction on their choice of studies. Elections in 1925 will be from 32 states.

The qualities considered in an applicant are those of manhood, force of character and leadership, literary and scholastic attainments, and physical vigor as shown by interest in outdoor sports and in other ways.

Candidates in the University and Massachusetts may secure application blanks and further information from Professor William Greene '11, 44 Shepard Street, Cambridge.
