1928 NINE TO OPPOSE BROWN FRESHMEN TODAY

Barbee Slated to Pitch in Thirteenth Game for Crimson--Freshmen Have Won 11 Out of 12 Starts.

HARVARD 1928  BROWN 1928 Nordberg 2b.  3b. Randall Jones c.f.  r.f. Hadley Pollard s.s.  2b. Ford Lord 1b.  c. Gurney Linscott 2b.  c.f. Hoffman Norris r.f.  1b. Wright Adams l.f.  l.f. Jones Chauncey c.  s.s. Edes Barbee p.  p. Thomas

The unlucky thirteenth is the number of the game scheduled for the 1928 baseball team this afternoon when it opposes the Brown Freshman nine at 3 o'clock on Soldiers Field. Coach Davidson's men have come out of their twelve starts with eleven victories and a win this afternoon would round out an even dozen for the 1928 victory column.

Barbee is again slated to take the mound against the visitors. He has worked in 11 of the games to date and has demonstrated such a remarkable brand of pitching that playing twice 3 week has come to be a habit. His only setback came in the contest with Worcester at Worcester in which the school team took advantage of two hits to win by a 1 to 0 score.

Barbee apparently has not been worked overtime because of the lack of pitching material. In Linscott, Cozzens, and Cutts, Coach Davidson has three men who have shown themselves reliable in the pinches. Cozzens won his only start, that against Hotchkiss, by an overwhelming score. Linscott has held every team against which he has been entered, and Cutts, although he has not seen service in a regular game, has proved his worth in practice games against the Seconds. It is probable that at least one of these men will be sent in this afternoon unless the contest is unusually close.

The line-up will be practically the same as that which has started the majority of the recent games. Linscott, who has been considered too good a player not to use when not pitching was used first in right field and later to second base where he has apparently earned a permanent position. Heard, who started the season at second and was one of the best hitters in early games, was forced to give up his place due to an injury to his leg but will probably be back in the line-up within the next few games.
