A first Freshman crew has been picked by Coach Haines after many weeks of shifting men about in different boats. While it is not positive that the present seating will remain unchanged, practice will probably be held until the first race with the following line-up in the first Freshman boat:
Stroke, John Watts: 7, W. G. Salton-stall; 6, H. G. Cushing; 5, C. B. Hitchcock; 4, Walter Maynard: 3, J. G. Buckley; 2, Donald Murchie: Bow, F. L. Ames Jr.; cox, C. H. Pforzheimer.
No use has been made thus far of the Pocock shell which was built last year for the Freshman crew. Today or tomorrow, however, if weather conditions are favorable, it will be used for the first time, and regularly thereafter.
During the Easter vacation, the first Freshman crew and the second, which is stroked by P. H. Nitzer will remain in Cambridge for practice. Taking Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off, the two crews will assemble, on Wednesday morning. Through the week, they will row twice daily, in the morning and in the afternoon, by way of preparation for the first race which will be held on May 9, when the Freshman crew will contest with M. I. T. and Cornell Freshman. There is some possibility of a Freshman crew from the University of Pennsylvania entering the race, but arrangements have not definitely been made.
