The expansion of the Business School Library to meet the increased needs of the School has been stressed by the administration as one of the greatest improvements that will be made possible by George F. Baker's gift. The physical limitations of the Library will be removed when the school moves into its new quarters, and thus it will be made possible to plan how to meet the problem of providing sufficient research and reference material.
The School is making preparation for a well rounded business library. There are many business libraries which have been developed for the use of banks, industrial companies, and departments of the government, but the aim of the School, it has been announced, is to build up a comprehensive collection of business literature.
Lack of working space, shelves, and unds for clerical assistance have made it impossible to place much of the recently acquired material at the disposal of the students. For instance, a statistical collection of several thousand volumes and pamphlets on commerce and industry was received from the New York State Library, but has been left a boxes in the basement of Widener library.
