Major F. W. Moore '93 last evening explained the rumors current among University track followers that part of the proposed addition to the Locker Building at Soldiers Field is to be devoted to a Finnish bathhouse of the kind which supposedly has contributed greatly to Nurmi's prowess.
"A Finnish bath house will certainly not be erected at this time," said Major Moore yesterday afternoon. "Coach Jakko Mikkola is very anxious to have such a bath house at the University," he added, "and he has recommended to the Athletic Committee that one be built but no action has been taken as yet."
The work on the addition to the Locker Building will begin today. The new wing, when completed, will provide for between 300 and 400 lockers, increase the floor space by 3500 feet, and provide better facilities for visiting teams. It will be built between the two areaways on the side of the building which faces the river and will become part of the present structure when it is completed. Major Moore believes that the work should be finished by May 1. He feels that it is a much needed expansion of the facilities which the Locker Building provides.
