CREW SEASON BEGINS WITH MEETING TODAY

Most Ambitious List in Years--Meeting Is at Smith Halls at 5 O'clock--Plan Several Short Speeches

The 1925 crew training season will get under way this afternoon with a meeting not only for all candidates but for all members of the University. The meeting will be held in the Smith Halls Common Room at 5 o'clock.

Coach Stevens will be the principal speaker. He will define the position which he feels the crew should have in its relation to the University. He hopes to dispel the prevailing impression that crew is a closed sport, destined only for those who are socially prominent. He will strive especially this year to secure the close cooperation of graduates and students with Captain Kelley's crew, and to stimulating rowing as a sport in Cambridge.

Coaches Brown and Haines to Speak

Coaches E. J. Brown '96 and H. H. Haines, who will direct the Class and Freshman crew squads respectively, are listed to speak this afternoon. R. K. Kane '22, who captained the 1922 University eight, and Dr. Edward Harding '10, medical adviser of the squad, will also address the meeting. In addition, Captain S. B. Kelley '25 and Manager W. S. Blanchard '25 will speak briefly. The meeting will last only a short time.

The 1925 schedule as announced yesterday is one of the most ambitious undertaken by Crimson crews in recent years. In there races, six opponents will be met by the first University crew, numbering some of the strongest college eights in the country. The annual Yale classic will be rowed as usual over the four mile course on the Thames at New London on June 19.
