MINOR SPORT HONORS DIVIDED WITH TIGERS

Soggy Field Holds University Riders to Eight Tallies--Strong Attack Humbles Crimson Booters

Two University minor sport teams divided honors with their Princeton rivals on Saturday morning, the poloists taking the only Crimson victory of the weekend, while the soccer eleven lost its third consecutive league game. The horsemen galloped to an easy 8 to 1 triumph over the Tiger forces on Devereaux field, while at the same time, on another Princeton field, the Crimson hooters were going down to a 4 to 1 defeat before the strong attack of the Orange and Black forward line.

A soggy field kept the Harvard riders down to eight tallies, after they had completely punctured the Tiger defense, which was made weak with the loss of Captain Clothier. R. A. Pinkerton '26, though playing at back, scored most of the tallies for the University four, and was the individual star of the game. Alexander Shaw '28 played a splendid offensive game at number two, scoring three goals, and R. P. Gibb '29, sharing number one with J. H. Remick '29, showed marked improvement. Erdman scored the only goal for Princeton.

Crimson Scores Lone Tally Late

In soccer, the Orange and Black attack played consistently throughout the game, and led the Crimson 4-0 until shortly before the closing whistle. At this time the Tiger net was dented for the first time, an unidentified Crimson forward putting the ball past Colobrook from a fierce scrimmage in front of the Princeton goal.

Packard, center forward on the Nassau eleven, was the star of the game. His dribbling approached the standard set by professionals and his coordination with the rest of the forwards constantly threatened the Crimson defense. He scored two of his team's goals. Simonds and Squires were also potent factors in the Tiger teamplay, and they each contributed unstoppable smashes into the Harvard goal.
