DIRECTOR OF HASTY PUDDING IS PRODUCER OF "FIREBRAND"

Laurence Schwab '14, who on several occasions since leaving Harvard has come back is Cambridge to assist in the staging of the annual Hasty Pudding plays, will bring to the Plymouth Theatre in Boston Monday night his latest production. "The Firebrand" a comedy which won wide success in New York last season.

"The Firebrand" has been acclaimed by a majority of critics as the season's greatest comedy success on Broadway, and one which will appeal particularly to those who can appreciate subtle wit and sophisticated satire. Mr. Schwab, who was active in dramatic work while in college, will be the second Harvard alumnus to come to Boston this fall in the role of producer of director. Hamilton McFadden '21, director of Rafael Sabatini's "Carolinian", now playing at the Hollis Theatre, is the second.

When Edwin Justus Mayer announced his play to New York playgoers, with Benvenuto Cellini as the principal character, the reviewers expected a dull and serious historical drama. Instead, they discovered an amusing farce, shot through with satire, which deals with Cellini in his youth as, "a gay blade, a likeable braggart, a great artist and a favorite with the ladies," writes one of its reviewers.
