New York, May 2,--Although without the service of its leader, Captain Clough, the University golf team scored two decisive victories yesterday, over the Columbia linksmen in the morning, and the golfers from the University of Pennsylvania in the afternoon. Columbia was defeated 8 to 1, and Pennsylvania 6 to 3, over the course at the Westchester-Biltmore Club at Rye. New York.
The feature of the morning round against the Columbia golfers was the playing of the first three members of the Crimson team, Hodder, Mapes, and Peirson, the first two turning in scores of 79, and the latter an 80.
In the afternoon match with the Quaker City linksmen, Peirson continued his brilliant play, securing a 77 or two above par on the exceedingly difficult course.
