The body of Robert Raisbeck Proctor '27, whose disappearance has caused a wide search during the last nine days, was discovered about 5 o'clock yesterday morning by Patrolman Patrick J. O'Neil, of the Metropolitan District Police. Patrolman O'Neil found the body floating at a point in the river just below the Newell boathouse.
Discovery Ends Nine Day Search
The find of the body yesterday morning ended a gruesome search which has been going on ever since an empty wherry was discovered floating on the upper Charles opposite the Metropolitan Driving Club on May 12. Subsequent investigation disclosed that Proctor's clothes were still in his locker. When he did not return that night, the police began dragging the river, and have been engaged in this daily until yesterday.
Autopsy Held Late Last Night
Although there is small chance of discovering the causes leading to Proctor's misfortune, an autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner, Dr. George B. Magrath. At a late hour last night, Dr. Magrath had not completed his investigation, being prevented from giving the matter his immediate attention by an urgent call. He was unable to predict what autopsy might disclose.
Proctor will be buried on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of his grandparents in Malden. He is the son of Dr. Charles M. Proctor, of Fayville, in this state.
