JOHN HARVARD'S REMOVAL TO YARD ONLY A MATTER OF DAYS

Workmen engaged yesterday in chipping away the base of the stone map in front of University Hall, were preparing this site for the reception of the statue of John Harvard, now standing in the delta by Memorial Hall, according to information obtained last night from W. S. Burke, Inspector of Grounds and Buildings.

Mr. Burke stated that the completion of the work of removing the statue only awaits the arrival of a supply of stone which was shipped some time ago, and will be used in constructing the new base. When the statue is finally removed, its base will present a different appearance from the present one, since a stone step about a foot high, will be constructed around the bottom.
