POMFRET ONLY TEAM TO DOWN 1927 NINE ON VACATION TOUR

Middlesex, Loomis and Choate Succumb to Freshman Attack

Two victories and one defeat were brought back from the spring trip yesterday by the 1927 baseball team. The fourth game on the schedule, with Hotchkiss, was cancelled on account of rain and the Middlesex encounter before the trip on April 12 went against the Freshmen, 5-4.

The first game on the trip was marked with the same inability on the part of the 1927 nine to hit that had been evident in the Middlesex game and Pomfret came out ahead 2 to 1.

On Thursday for the first time the 1927 nine began to hit and the result was a batting orgy at the expense of Loomis.

Choate School went down before the Freshman nine in the final game, 7 to 6. The game was loosely played and the Choate errors, combined with the consistently good play of Tobin and Phelps and the pitching of Gates, were enough to keep the 1927 team in front to the end.
