The only opportunity the undergraduates and public will have of seeing President Eliot today will be when he appears before University Hall at about 5 o'clock this afternoon. The throng will gather before the platform, which has been placed between the steps of University Hall facing Harvard Hall, to honor the man who has been the leader of education in America for almost 60 years.
C.B. Hubbard Jr. '24 will present President Eliot with parchments from the college and from each of the graduate schools signed by the prominent members of each. Professor A. T. Davison '06 has arranged a musical program for the glee club band. Cheering and singing will be led by R. P. Bullard '24.
To Present Portrait
The portrait of President Eliot by his nephew, Charles Hopkinson, will be presented in Sanders Theatre by the undergraduates to the University. It will be permanently hung in the Faculty Room of University Hall, the portrait gallery of Harvard.
At the end of the exercises in Sanders Theatre, E. H., Wells '97, and C. J. Hubbard '24 will conduct President Eliot and Justice Sanford '85 to University Hall by automobile, leaving by the South Door. William Phillips '00 and J. W. D. Seymour '17 will similarly conduct President Lowell '77 and Chief Justice Taft. C. T. Greve '84, President of the Associated Harvard Clubs, and Governor Cox will be escorted by David Cheever '97 and Roger Wolcott '99; and Dean Briggs '75 of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and President Angell of Yale University by E. K. Rand '94 and R. B. Merriman '96. The automobiles will be parked behind University Hall.
The following comprise the student representatives; C. J. Hubbard Jr. '24, B. McK. Henry '24, W. E. Crosby '24, F. A. O. Schwarz '24, M. W. Greenough '25, N. S. Howe '26, and L. F. Daley '27, J. H. Douglas 3L will represent the Law School, Shaw Livermore 2G.B. the Business School, S. P. Moorehead 2S.A. the School of Architecture, and B. D. Williams 3S.L.A. the Landscape School of Architecture.
ALL CLASSES STOP AT 3 TODAY
