Harvard's infant sport showed last night that it was indeed a healthy child, for the University polo team tied the strong 101st Field Artillery outfit and barely lost to Yale, intercollegiate champions, in a heart-breaking finish by the slim margin of half a point.

The much-overworked expression "moral victory", may with some justice be applied to the Crimson team's efforts last night. Doomed to inglorious rout by the pre-game predictions of the wiseacres, the University horsemen came from behind in each of last night's round-robin matches and all but won in both cases. Whether due to natural development or to the sight of blue jerseys on the backs of their opponents, the work of the Crimson players far outshone their earlier efforts. Kent was the particular star of the evening, ably seconded by Stranahan.

Yale got away to an early lead and entered the last period with a point and a half margin. The Crimson trio forced the play into Eli territory, however, and a goal by Stranahan followed by another beautiful shot by Kent put Harvard to the fore by half a point with only a minute to play. Yale rallied, and Baldwin scored the deciding tally from a bitter scrimmage in front of the Crimson goal, making the final score 5 to 4 1-2. The half-point lost by Harvard on a foul in the initial chukker proved to be the Blue's margin of victory.

The finish of the Harvard-Artillery match was equally sensational. The individual brilliance of Kent three times tied the score in the final period after the soldiers had gone into the lead. The final score, 5 to 5, is a far different story from the 14 to 1 trimming that Harvard received in the two teams' earlier meeting.

Yale won a 4 to 3 verdict from the artillery men by a spurt in the closing minutes. Baldwin duplicated his performance of the Harvard fray and shot the winning goal for the Blue.

On the basis of total goals, Harvard was the winner of the round-robin with a total of 9 1-2 points against 9 for Yale and 8 for the Artillery.
