MINOR SPORTS COUNCIL VOTES TO RECOGNIZE POLO

STUDENT COUNCIL HAS NOT YET APPROVED, HOWEVER

Recognition of polo as a minor sport was unanimously voted at a meeting of the Minor Sports Council last night. The matter has still to come before the Student Council, but that body should offer little opposition, considering the fact that the Minor Sports Council voted unanimously. Colonel U. S. Browning and Captain S. F. Clark, representing the R. O. T. C. at the meeting, outlined the position of polo in the college and especially emphasized the fact that it is open to all members of the University. They also stated that the sport has been recognized by Yale and Princeton, and that Harvard has entered the intercollegiate competition for the spring.

Supporters of the motion pointed out that this is the first year that polo has been attempted at Harvard, and as the team lost by only half a point to Yale, last year's intercollegiate champion, there is evidence that the sport has possibilities for the future.
