For the first time in five games the University quintet emerged victorious Wednesday night, trampling on the Rhode Island invaders to the tune of 34 to 17. The Crimson cheers were rather hollow, however, for the visitors made the sorriest showing seen at Hemenway for some time.

In the first half Coach Wachter's men, freed from the shackles of the Intercollegiate League guarding that has hampered them for the past fornight, celebrated their emancipation by a basketthrowing orgy. At half time the score was 23 to 5 and the wonder was that the margin was no greater. Rauh and Gordon were in their best scoring form and the Rhode Island defense was scarcely worthy of the name.

In the second period the Crimson attack was as poor as it had been good in the opening half. The disorganized visitors took a brace and actually outscored the home players 12 to 11. The final whistle, however, found them still lost in the Crimson dust.
