In the 1924 track meets with Yale and Princeton, for the first time in University track history, the University and Freshman contests will be staged simultaneously. This innovation, together with the adoption of certain I. C. A. A. A. A. rules for the conduct of field events, was announced yesterday following a recent meeting of Yale, Princeton, and Harvard track coaches, captains, and managers in New York City.

The new system of combining Freshman and University meets will make for a closer relation between the two squads. The most important result of the system, however, will be the increased economy and ease in making trips. In the meets Freshman events will be alternated with University events, with the exception that the yearling events will be held first.

The new I. C. A. A. A. A. rulings in the field events aim for better balance in the programs. Each man will be given three sets of two trials in place of four single trials as at present, while the best four men will receive additional three single trials. In the sets of two trials, only the best effort will be measured.

In addition, the conference decided to substitute whitewash lines for ropes to mark off the lanes in the dash events.

Large Squad In Legion Games

Coach E. L. Farrell is now preparing a squad of 50 men to compete in the American Legion games on the afternoon of February 22. He announced yesterday several features of the program important from the University's standpoint.

Crimson one-mile and two-mile relay quartets will race Dartmouth foursomes. While the personnel of the University teams is not definite, the short distance combination will probably be the same as that which trimmed the Green on Saturday while it yielded to Cornell. The Dartmouth team with a week more of rest from the dissipations of Carnival Week, should present stronger opposition. The Crimson long distance team will feel the absence of J. N. Watters '26, who will not copete in the meet. Leo Ryan '26 will race against the famous Jole Ray in the American Legion invitation mile, while both LeB.- R. Barker '26 and F. P. Kane '26 are entered in the Gaston invitation 600.
