Communication

An Overseer Speaks

The Harvard Crimson assumes no responsibility for the sentiments expressed by correspondents, and reserves the right to exclude any communication whose publication may for any reason seem undesirable. Except by special arrangement, communications cannot be published anonymously.

To the Editor of the CRIMSON:

In your editorial concerning the loss of Professor Baker, as quoted in the New York Times, you charge "the President and Board of Overseers" with shameful neglect.

The CRIMSON should understand the organization of the University and not confuse the Corporation (or the President and Fellows), the primary governing board, with the Board of Overseers, which has in general supervisory powers only, and in this case was not consulted about or informed as to the situation. So far as I know, the members of the Board of Overseers first learned of Professor Baker's resignation from the newspapers. Langdon P. Marvin.
