YALE HOCKEY GAMES WILL BE AT ARENA

Coach Bigelow Can Put Full Team of "H" Wearers on Ice--Last Year's Star Freshmen Brighten Outlook

Both Harvard-Yale hockey games this year will be at the Boston Arena because of the destruction by fire last June of the Yale arena. In spite of this handicap Yale will put a team upon the ice, though hockey will not be made a major sport at New Haven this year, as had been expected from the increasing enthusiasm in the sport among Yale men.

The Yale team will struggle along this year on natural ice with an occasional practice on the Baker rink at Princeton over week-ends. By 1925 it is hoped that a new rink will have been constructed at New Haven.

Letter Men Are Numerous

When candidates for the University hockey team turn out on Monday afternoon at the Arena Coach Bigelow will find that he has a most powerful nucleus around which to build his team. The five letter men whom graduation took away were Walker, Hill, Captain Crosby, Gardner, and Graves. He will still have left more than a complete team of men who played in the Yale game last year. These are G. W. Burgess '25 and W. M. Austin '25, left wings; Clark Hodder '25, center; Captain E. M. Beals '25 and N. S. Howe '26, right wings; P. W. Chase '25 and J. W. Hammond '25, defense men; and J. L. Newell '26 and Thayer Cummings '26, goalguards.

Coady and Zarakov Are Stars

Last year's undefeated Freshman team will form a valuable addition to the University squad. Coach Bigelow will undoubtedly find that such fast and experienced players as Captain C. D. Coady, Nathaniel Hamlen, Isadore Zarakov, and R. S. Scott will put in a strong bid for positions on the University team. Coady, who played defense last year, is the logical candidate for the berth left vacant by Captain Crosby of last year's team. He combines weight with speed and was the most consistent member of the 1927 sextet. Zarakov is even more elusive on the rink than on the gridiron, and he can hardly be kept out of the regular forward line.

Manager Cushman announced that he hopes to arrange three games before Christmas vacation. Five major games have already been definitely scheduled as follows:

January 17--Yale.

January 24--Princeton.

February 14--Yale.

February 21--Dartmouth.

February 28--Princeton.

All of these contests except the second with Princeton will be played at the Arena.
