The famous Lampoon elm will be but 25 feet high it was announced last night by the Lampoon Board, which held its first meeting yesterday to discuss solemnly business matters. This announcement came as a surprise, for it had been previously stated that the tree would be 75 feet tall.
A careful study of the situation was made by a Boston architect, and he reported that a tree 75 feet in height would completely hide the building from view. Immediately upon hearing this the Board cancelled their order for the 75 foot tree and put in a new order for a shorter one.
As soon as it is received the tree will be planted in the space which the sidewalk now occupies at the intersection of Mt. Auburn and Bow streets.
