The Cambridge Police Department is determined to stamp out all-night parking on the streets of the city. The Cambridge Police tagged about 40 cars on Mt. Auburn Street Monday night, and issued summonses to all the owners.
There is a city ordinance which specifically states that no car may be parked on the streets of Cambridge for any length of time greater than two or three hours, day or night, unless the owner has obtained a permit to park from the City Hall. These permits are practically impossible to obtain.
The men whose cars have been tagged will be summoned to court in about three weeks, and according to reports from Police Headquarters, they will probably be given a warning for the first offence, but a second offence will call for a heavy fine.
