Rowing has been the most popular of the prescribed sports for Freshmen since the inauguration of the present system four years ago. Mr. W. B. Geer announced before the Society of Directors of Physical Education in Colleges, which assembled at Atlanta, Georgia, on December 27. The statistics show the sports elected by the 2648 men in the last four Freshman classes. The figures are as follows: From this list activities limited to less than 5 percent of the men in the four classes are omitted. So also are swimming, equitation, and special corrective exercise, since these three are not subject to free choice by all members of the class.
