The Freshman tennis team over-whelmed the M. I. T. men 9 to 0 yesterday afternoon on the Divinity Courts, when the Crimson won eight points without losing a single set, the ninth point going to the Freshmen by default.
The steady playing of Smith and the excellent service of Perkins were note-worthy, as was the spectacular playing of Debevoise evidenced in his 6-1, 6-0 defeat of his opponent, Doolittle of M. I. T.
The matches resulted as follows:
Singles.--W. T. Smith (H.) defeated Eddy (M. I. T.), 6-3, 6-1; G. H. Perkins (H.) defeated Lambert (M. I. T.), 6-4, 6-2; G. D. Debevoise (H.) defeated Doolittle (M. I. T.), 6-1, 6-0; L. A. Weisman (H.) defeated Bates (M. I. T.), 6-1, 6-1; Bernard Bandler (H.) defeated Brooks (M. I. T.), 6-3, 6-1; G. M. Laimbeer (H.) defeated French (M. I. T.), 6-2, 6-2.
Doubles.--Smith and Debevoise (H.) defeated Eddy and Brooks (M. I. T.), 6-3, 6-4; A. R. Allen and Perkins (H.) defeated French and Bates (M. I. T.), 6-2, 6-1; Weisman and Laimbeer (H.) defeated Doolittle and Lambert (M. I. T.), by default.
