ANDOVER OUT-POINTS SECOND TENNIS TEAM

Strength in Doubles Gives Schoolboys Match by Narrow Margin of 5 to 4--Even Break in Singles

The University second tennis team was defeated 5-4 last Saturday afternoon at Andover by Phillips Academy in a match where both teams gained three points in the singles, but the University men were unable to win the necessary two matches in the doubles. The first two doubles combinations of Andover, which was champion of New England last year, were too strong for the University combinations, Cabot and Harrington, Upjohn and Duncan.

The matches played yesterday resulted as follows:

Singles.--C. Watson (A) defeated J. M. Cabot '23, 6-2, 8-6; J. P. Duncan '25 defeated L. H. Gordon (A), 6-3, 6-2; W. B. Evans (A) defeated Donald Stralem '24, 6-4, 9-7; J. N. Failing (A) defeated E. M. Upjohn '25, 6-3, 8-6; L. H. Rouillion '24 defeated L. Remington (A), 7-5, 2-6, 6-4; Carroll Harrington '24 defeated G. Reilly (A), 6-1, 7-5.

Doubles.--Watson and Gordon defeated Cabot and Harrington, 3-6, 6-2, 3-6; Evans and Failing defeated Upjohn and Duncan, 6-1, 6-4; Rouillion and Stralem defeated Remington and Reilly, 6-4, 10-8.
