SPRING FOOTBALL SQUAD OF 63 NOW REPORTING IS LARGEST YET

Backfields Sent Through Light Signal Drill--May Pick Teams Today

In spite of the discouraging weather conditions, the largest squad that has ever reported for spring football came out for the second practice of the season yesterday. Captain C. J. Hubbard Jr. '24 and six other men, who had been detained either because of afternoon, classes or rehearsals of the Pudding show, reported for the first time, swelling the number of candidates to 63.

For the line, practice consisted chiefly of falling on the ball and work on the charging machine. Later some of the simpler Harvard shifts were tried. The backfield candidates devoted most of their time to catching punts, and also went through a light signal drill. It is expected that teams will be picked for further signal practice either today or Monday.
