PLAY SIX INNINGS TO SCORELES TIE

Mound Candidates Each Pitch Two Innings Marked by Few Hits--Will Have Game Today and Tomorrow

The baseball squad had its first practice game of the season yesterday when Coach Slattery taking advantage of the favorable weather conditions put two temporary nines through a six inning work-out. The two teams were made up of men eligible to play in Saturday's game with Boston University. Neither team seemed able to get the range of the pitchers and the six innings dragged out to a scoreless tie. The best hitting was that of Captain Owen who knocked out a single and a double in three trips to the plate, scoring half the hits registered by team A.

Coach Slattery did little shifting in the line-ups of the two teams although he gave several of his pitching staff their first real trials by letting each of them stay in the box for two innings. there will be few changes in the line-up of team A which is expected to start against Boston University intact. The only positions that are not filled by last year's verterans are second base, which is beveterans are second base, which is being covered by J. W. Hammond '25, captain of his Freshman nine, and the battery positions, which are being filled by L. C. Larrabee '24, catcher, and K. N. Hill '24, as leading candidate for the mound position.

Practice games will probable be held today and tomorrow in order to make up somewhat for the late starting of the outdoor practice.

The University teams batted in the following order:

Team A.--Clark c.f., Thayer l.f., Gordon r.f., Jenkins s.s., OWen 1b., Hammond 2b., Buell 3b., Larrabee c., K. N. Hill p., Cordingly p., Young p.
