21 CREWS TAKE TO WATER FROM WELD AND NEWELL

University, Class 150-Pound, and Freshman Eights Comprise Largest Flotilla on River This Season

A total of 21 crews went onto the river yesterday from the Weld and Newell boat houses. Both the Anderson and the Western Avenue bridges were blocked with floating ice so that the Freshman boats were confined to the stretch of water between them and the crews from the Newell boat house had to row upstream

Two motor boats were taken out for the first time this year and the University class, and 150-pound crews were coached into them by Coaches Muller and William Haines. The regular Freshman cross were coached by Coach Bert Housed in a single.

University crews C and D were the first in the river at 4 o'clock. A and B, three 150-pound, and five class crews also went out from the Newell boat house. The same Freshman crews were on the water as the day before yesterday, including four crews of autumn crew material the inexperienced and the experienced football material, and the first 150-pound. Two other 150-pound eights also rowed yesterday.

The crew management has announced that there is a great need for coxswains for the class and 150-pound crews.
