'26 BASEBALL MEN SIFTED AS CAGE WORK CONTINUES

Candidates for Freshman Team Being Narrowed Down--Winter Track and Basketball Men Report

Under the careful supervision of Coach C. B. Davidson, the logical candidates for the 1926 baseball squad are gradually being narrowed down to a few men who have given evidence of their ability by their work in the cage so far this season.

Since practice began the middle of last month the majority of the men who intend to take up baseball have signed up. J. C. McGlone, who has been busy in track, signed up two days ago and has been working out in the cage for the last few days. The only man on the basketball squad who is taking up baseball is J. J. Maher who has been playing right guard on the quintet and will be a candidate for first base.

K. F. Nash has proved himself the best man in the box so far, and with R. W. Puffer, F. S. Mosely, B. J. Cotter and W. T. Reid 3d., will probably remain with the squad in outdoor practice. The possibilities for third base include L. W. Atkinson, H. I. Pratt, and H. E. Slayton, while the best man for second thus far is J. E. Knowlton and for short stop J. C. McGlone, R. H. Field and J. J. Maher will probably be the candidates for first base.
