Scoring two goals in the final period, the University hockey team tied the Princeton series with a 2-1 victory over the Tiger sextet in the Crimson's first invasion of the Baker Memorial rink on Saturday night. The deciding contest will be played at the Arena on Wednesday evening.

For two periods both teams struggled hard for the lead, but due to the excellent work of the goal guards, no one was able to score. Crosby, however, finally broke the tie after one minute and a half of play in the third period, when he managed to follow up a long drive of Owen's and slip the puck by Gleason before the Princeton goal guard was ready for the second shot. In less than 30 seconds the Tigers were able to tie the score when Davis, the offensive star on the Orange and Black combination, took, a long, lateral pass from Captain Van Gerbig and shot it past Bigelow from a position close to the goal. For five minutes the play livened up, both teams fighting desperately to break the deadlock. Finally Captain owen recovered the puck deep in Crimson territory and by clever dribbling and foot work, skated alone just beyond center-ice, where he launched a hard, fast drive to the net for the winning tally.

Owen Star of Game

Owen was the star of the game, often leaving his defensive position for individual spurts down the ice. Crosby and Walker, too, were mainstays of the University's attacks, while the latter's accurate shooting gave the Tiger goal guard no little trouble.

For Princeton, Van Gerbig and Davis did most of the offensive work while Wall at left defense repeatedly broke up the Crimson attacks.

The University took the aggressive at the start of the contest when Beals got the puck at the face off and carried it down to the Princeton defense. Van Gerbig recovered it, however, and went down to the Crimson ice where the Tigers maintained a prolonged attack. For most of the period the play was down on the University's defensive line, but the Tiger wings could not break through and were forced to resort to long, ineffective shots. In the middle of the period Coach Gaw met the move by shifting Van Gerbig to a similar position with the result that play was materially speeded up.

The early scoring in the third period precipitated a desperate struggle until Owen was finally able to break the tie. In the hope of overcoming the lead by bringing continuous pressure on the Crimson secondary line Coach Gaw used a one-man defense and kept four men up in front of the University's cage. In the last few minutes of play shots kept pouring in at the cage and it was only the sterling work of Bigelow that prevented another tie.
