PRINCETON, N. J., February 23.--The University hockey team held a light work-out in the Baker Memorial rink tonight in preparation for tomorrow's contest with the Princeton sextet. The squad of 13 players will spend the night in Trenton, returning to Princeton early in the evening.

The University sextet, handicapped by injuries received in the gruelling contest with Dartmouth on Wednesday, will meet a powerful Tiger combination in an attempt to wipe out the 3-1 defeat in the first game of the series. Guild, who has been alternating with Beals at center, will probably be out for the season due to a torn leg ligament, while Beals and Crosby, both of whom received injuries on Wednesday, will be hampered this evening. Beals did not practice last night but will probably play part of the game. Crosby, however, went through the work-out and will start the contest.

With the Baker Memorial rink at his disposal this season Coach Gaw has been able to develop an aggressive team which has lost but two games. The first contest, with McGilley resulted in a 3-2 defeat, while the second Princeton-Yale game was a 1-0 victory for the Blue after three over-time periods. Since the first Crimson-Tiger encounter, the Orange and Black has added four victories to its record, having defeated Hamilton, Bates, and West Point in easy contests. The first Yale game was also a victory for Princeton, the Tiger team barely nosing out the New Haven combination 4-3. Last Wednesday the Orange and Black showed its strength by staging a third-period come-back and overcoming a two-point lead of the fast Montreal sextet, the game ending in a 4-4 tie.

Norrie, who played in the right-wing position against the Crimson in the first game, has been forced to give up hockey on account of illness and Captain Van Gerbig has been moved up to fill his place. The defensive post thus left vacant has been filled by Scull. The change in the line-up has slightly weakened the strength of the Princeton combination.
