1926 QUINTET DEFEATS M. I. T. FRESHMEN 38-27

Engineers Show Great Improvement Since Early-Season Crimson Victory--Smith Scores 15 Out of 18 Goals After Fouls and 6 Baskets From Floor

The Freshman basketball team gained a clear-cut victory over the M. I. T. first-year men in the Hemenway Gymnasium last night, totaling 38 points and holding their opponents to 27 points.

The Engineers had clearly improved their attack since the Freshmen's first victory and jumped into an early lead. Their success was limited however and the Crimson men soon passed them and obtained a lead which they held for the remainder of the game. The half ended with the score 20-10.

Two features of the evening were the five baskets by Captain Timmerman, all of which were shot from over half the length of the floor. Smith scored on 15 out of 18 tries from fouls and was high scorer of the game with 27 points.
