For the two field events in the K. of C. games on February 17 in Mechanics Building, 15 entries have been made in the shot put and high jump. These men increase the representatives of the University in the meet to over 50.
Time trials were held for the University long and short distance relays on Saturday, with the result that Coach Martin picked three men for the former and two for the latter race. W. L. Chapin '25 will probably be lead-off man with Captain J. W. Burke '23 at anchor, while J. E. Merrill '24 is the third man chosen for the relay against Dartmouth.
For the quartet to oppose the M. I. T. Runners in the K. of C. games, Coach Martin has chosen Vinton Chapin '23, a veteran sprinter, and J. S. Murphy Jr. '25. The latter was all primed for the B. A. A. short distance relay, but was displaced at the last minute by Captain Burke. The choosing of Merrill for the Dartmouth relay precludes all possibility of the same University men facing M. I. T. in the race next Saturday as were beaten by that combination nine days ago.
The final make-up of the University and Freshman relays will probably be decided as the result of time trials to be held tomorrow. 14 is quite likely that J. B. Sherburne '24 will be the fourth man to run against Dartmouth, while the Freshman line-up will be much the same as that of the B. A. A. games.
Today Coach Martin will divide the entire squad into two teams which will hold meets frequently during the remainder of the season--the first to occur a week from tomorrow. These dual meets will be one of the features of the winter.
The entries in the field events are:
High Jump. H. W. Abbot '25, J. B. Durgin '26. D. L. Ellovich '24, R. D. Gerould '24, R. L. Hyatt '24, S. B. Jones '26, Malcolm Morse '24.
Shot Put.--P. F. A. Altmann 1E.S., E. H. Bradford Jr. '26, M. A. Cheek '26, H. T. Dunker '25, C. A. C. Eastman '24, R. D. Gross 3E.S., R. B. Hallowell '25, J. M. Potter '26.
