Word has been lately received that the Medaille Militaire, the highest honor bestowed by the French government for valorous conduct, has been awarded posthumously to Ronald Wood Hoskier '18, an ex-member of the Lafayette Escadrille. He fell in action at San Quentin, France, on April 23, 1917 after a heroic battle against three enemy plans.
The citation accompanying the decoration reads in the following terms:
"La Medaille Militaire a etc attribute a la memoire du Sergeant Hoskier, Ronald Wood, du 2 groupe d'Aviation Mort pour la France.
"Citoyen American, engage au service de la France. Veritable ame d'elite pour sa bravoure at son esprit de sacrifice. Est tombe le 23 Avril 1917 apres une heroique defense contre trois appareils ennemis." (A ete cite).
