Although handicapped by lack of good ice at the Charlesbank rinks, the second hockey team is this year planning a more extensive and comprehensive season than ever before. Whereas only one contest was player last year, the schedule this year includes nine games, of which six have been approved by the Athletic Committee. The first of these, with Andover, is scheduled for January 13, but negotiations are now under way for a contest with some local team before that date. The management is also planning a game in the latter part of February with a Yale team, probably at New Haven.
The schedule is, in comparison with those of recent years, unusually interesting, including contests with such team as Andover, Cambridge Latin. Brookline High, and Newton High. The Andover and Newton High games are at Andover and Newton, respectively. In addition to this, it is expected that a number of men will be taken up to the University squad, as the season progresses, and the ability of the men becomes apparent. In connection with this policy, the second team will, in all probability, frequently be called upon to scrimmage Coach Claflin's men at the Arena.
Several Promising Players
Coach P. E. Wilson '23, who will have charge of the second team this winter, has an unusually large squad reporting. In practice to date excellent work has been shown by L. R. Nichols '24, P. W. Butman '23, Wilson Palmer '23, and C. L. Peirson '25 in the forward line, while R. G. Norris '24 among the defence men, and Malcolm Dole '24, at goal, have been playing in good form.
