The Varsity Club has definitely announced the publication next October of "The 'H' Book of Harvard Athletics", a 550-page record of all Harvard-Yale athletic contests in the five major sports, beginning with rowing in 1852.
In addition to pictures of practically every major sport team since that time, as well as many of the athletic buildings and playing fields, past and present, the book will contain histories of the beginning and growth at Cambridge of each of the sports, written by University players of different periods, thus practically covering the period of the existence of intercollegiate athletics in this country.
It will also contain all Harvard-Yale baseball box scores, crew, football, and hockey line-ups, substitutes, scores and times, intercollegiate, dual, and international track teams including cross-country runs, managers of all teams, University intercollegiate lawn tennis champions in singles and doubles, and University intercollegiate golf champions, together with a complete index of all "H" men.
Yale Statistics Also Given
Equally full and accurate statistics of the Yale teams which have opposed Harvard, verified by the Yale Athletic Association, are also to be included.
The main object of the committee in preparing the book is to give a complete and unified story of the University's athletic accomplishments during the past half century or more; to preserve in permanent form for the use of graduates and others, an important chapter in the life of the college.
The book will be sold to subscribers practically at cost, which the committee hopes will not exceed $5. Those who buy the volume later from book sellers must necessarily pay a higher price to cover the selling cost. Subscriptions may be sent either directly to the Varsity Club or to the Harvard Athletic Association.
