REPAIRS ON APPLETON CHAPEL FORCE USE OF HISTORIC FACULTY ROOM IN UNIVERSITY HALL

Owing to the fact that repairs are to be made in Appleton Chapel during the next fortnight, the Sunday service at the University on April 23 will be held in the Living Room of the Union, and daily prayers for the week beginning April 24 will be held in the Faculty Room at University Hall.

Bishop Charles H. Brent of Western New York will preach on April 23 and conduct prayers for the rest of the week. The public will be welcome at the Sunday service as usual.

This will not be the first time that the Faculty Room at University Hall has been used for religious services. From the time when the building was constructed in 1815, until 1858, this room served as the regular college chapel. Later it was divided into lecture rooms, until in 1896 it was restored nearly to its original form for use for faculty meetings. The room was also used for morning prayers for several months during the war, when Appleton Chapel was closed in order to save coal.

The repairs to Appleton Chapel will consist of putting down a new floor-covering and making various other minor changes.
