UNIVERSITY TEAM RUNS SECOND IN MEDLEY RELAY RACE

R. S. WHITNEY '22 WINS FIRST IN HURDLES

At the Millrose Athletic Association games held last night at the Madison Square Garden, New York, the University medley relay team took second place in the intercollegiate race, with Princeton leading the way across the finish, and the other teams trailing behind the Crimson runners. J. W. Burke '23 and W. F. Eaton '22 ran the half-mile turns, with Richard Chute '22 and J. E. Merrill '24 in the quarter-mile laps. The winning time for the mile and a half was 6 minutes, 45 4-5 seconds.

Eaton and Merrill held their own with the Princeton runners, but Chute fumbled the baton, and Stevenson handed over a large lead to Conger, the Orange anchor man. Burke, running last for the University, gained 50 yards on his opponent, and pushed him hard at the end, but failed to overtake him.

R. S. Whitney '22 won first place in the 50-yard hurdles against a fast field, being clocked in 6 4-5 seconds, but C. R. Hauers '23, the other Crimson entrant in this event, failed to place. Neither Vinton Chapin '23 or E. O. Goudrin 1L., who ran in the dash, were in the place winners in the finals.
