BISHOP ROOTS SPEAKS ON CHINA THIS AFTERNOON

Will Discuss Present Situation There at 4 o'Clock at Episcopal Theological School--Has Been in Missionary Work Since 1896

The Right Reverend Logan Herbert Roots, D.D. '91, Bishop of Hankow, will deliver the first of his series of lectures on "The Present Situation in China" this afternoon at 4 o'clock in Reed Hall of the Episcopal Theological School, Brattle street. The lecture will be open to the public.

Bishop Roots has been actively engaged in missionary work in china ever since his graduation from the Episcopal Theological School in 1896. For two years he studied the Chinese language at Wuchang, after which he was ordained priest and entered into general missionary work at Hankow. In 1904, he was consecrated in Trinity Church, Boston, second Bishop of Hankow. Since 1913 he has been chairman of the China Continuation Committee.

Further lectures on the Chinese situation and Far East problems will be given by Bishop Roots on Wednesday and Friday of this week.
