E. T. Herndon 2G. B. will meet R. J. Kunkel 1L today at 3 o'clock on the Divinity Courts for the championship of the University in tennis. Herndon advanced to the finals yesterday by defeating F. S. Turner 1L, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3; Kunkel won his place in the finals by triumphing over R. N. Bradley 1G.B. on Monday in a closely contested match.
Herndon was the runner-up in last year's tournament, is a former Princeton captain, and from his fast, accurate style of play this fall is picked to be the winner. Kunkel was captain last year at Georgetown, and has displayed an increasingly skillful command of the ball as the tournament has progressed.
In the doubles tournament G. C. Guild '23 and R. J. Kunkel 1L. advanced to the semi-finals by defeating E. B. Hinckley '24 and H. C. Haskell '24, 6-0, 6-1, while in the lower half of the draw J. H. Gardner '26 and A. Weisman '26 won from A. R. Allen '26 and G. H. Perkins '26 by 6-3, 6-8, 6-4.
In the Union tennis tournament play is now in the second round. Men who cannot play at hours posted on the bulletin board at the Union should sign up, stating when they can play.
The doubles draw will be posted Friday, and play will begin Monday. Eight men have signed up for doubles without naming a partner; these men must either find themselves a partner or apply at the Graduate Manager's office for a partner before 1 o'clock tomorrow.
