The University rifle season will begin on January 13 with a meet with Bowdoin and will last through April 6, when the team faces Yale. There has been greater interest shown this year than ever before due to the fact that the University now has a four target range of its own: Up till yesterday, however, the candidates were handicapped by the lack of rifles as there has been a delay in the delivery of the pieces ordered. Two savage N. R. A. model target riflee, the property of the Rifle Club, are now at the range and may be used by all members of the club.
A preliminary shoot will be held between the University and Freshman teams about a week before mid-years. Ten men will be selected for the University team next week and five men will be held as substitutes. Men who do not make a position on the first ranking will change places with the men on the team when they show superior shooting. The Freshman team will be made up in about two weeks and shortly after that a captain will be chosen.
This year there will be no off-hand matches as the National Rifle Association, in which the University has competed in the past, has made certain specifications which would have been difficult to comply with. The schedule of matches all prone, follows:
